Why can't I get into [insert name] library database?
Answer
Sometimes databases experience problems: internet instability or problems with the company's platform itself.
But sometimes the database isn't the problem. You may be able to solve the problem yourself depending on the cause.
Do these quick checks to make sure the problem isn't on your end:
- Try accessing the database using another browser (if you're using Chrome, try Firefox). Individual browser settings (pop-up blockers and security settings) may be blocking access.
- Check your internet connection.
- If you are using a computer, try accessing the site on your smartphone (and vice versa). This is another way to discover that the problem is from a setting in your browser on your computer or phone.
- Clear your browser cache. This is especially important if you know there was a problem previously. Your computer could be storing a broken version of the page.
- Try accessing a different library database. This will help you determine if the problem is strictly an issue with the vendor. If it is, take a half hour and try again.
- Wait 30 minutes and try again. Many service interruptions are brief.
- Let us know by dropping us a note through Chat or by emailing us at library@dacc.edu. The sooner we know about an interruption, the sooner we can make sure it's resolved.
