Can I get books from another library?
Answer
There are 2 ways you can borrow books from another library, and they are both free. We ask that you try using I-Share first, and if you can't find what you're looking for that way, then try Worldcat.
Using I-Share
If you've searched our catalog and we don't have a book, switch your search scope in EasySearch to I-Share and search there.
If you find a title you want in I-Share, you click on it to go to the record. (If possible, find a record with several libraries listed as having the item.) Then click on the I-Share request. If you haven't signed in previously, you will be asked to do so prior to placing the request. (The request process can take up to a minute, so be patient.)
The system will confirm that your request has been placed. Check your DACC email. If your request gets cancelled by the lending library, you will get an email notifying you.
Using Worldcat
If you can't locate your item, or your request is cancelled, try Worldcat. Access this through the library's main page. Run a search for your title (or a subject).
Click a title of interest to find out more.
When you find a title you want to request, click the Submit Request button at the bottom and complete the form. You must include your student or staff ID number to be able to submit the form.
I-Share requests typically arrive in 3-5 days. Worldcat requests typically take a week, but can take longer depending upon where the lending library is located.
